Created in September 2013, Ekhwan Rugby Football Club are a social rugby team that brings friends from around the world together to take part in various tournaments. 

The team began after Simon Cooke and Darren Baxter represented Virginia Beach Falcons in the 2011 Tidewater International Tournament. In the summer of 2013, the boys were planning a return to the USA to take part with the Falcons again. The Falcon's president at the time, Nathan Davis, suggested maybe trying to get a team of their friends together to take part, and add a truly international flavor to the weekend tournament.

After only seven months of planning, Ekhwan's first squad assembled in Virginia Beach to take part in the Tidewater International Tournament. Players travelled from as far as Dubai and South Africa to put on the orange jersey.  Beating many established USA Rugby club teams on route to the final, where Ekhwan were beaten in controversial fashion by sister club and hosts, Virginia Beach Falcons.

The name, Ekhwan, is Arabic for 'brotherhood.' The word brotherhood was used by Simon Cooke in a thank you speech to the Falcon's for allowing Darren Baxter and himself to represent the them during the 2011 Tidewater International Tournament. The name was justified fully after the 2014 tour, with the group becoming very close, sometimes too close, over the long weekend.

Ekhwan are a team that are always growing in members. To be part of the team, there are very simple criteria:
1) Played with or against Simon or Darren.
2) Played for Virginia Beach Falcons
3) Nominated and seconded by current Ekhwan members.
